Class of 1883 Class Day Box

Scope and Contents:
This collection contains a time capsule the Class of 1883 created of material that was pertinent to their class or symbolic of their times. The Class of 1883 buried the Class Day Box on campus and then dug it up at their 50th reunion in 1933. At the reunion, the Class of 1883 added newspapers, programs, and other memorabilia to the time capsule. This collection includes class manuscripts, programs, newspapers and a school publication, photographs, coins, a report, and a course catalog.

These 45 photograph albums contain images of Tufts University faculty and graduating classes from 1858-1898. Graduating students could order which images they wanted to have included and thus volumes from the same year might contain different photographs. Medical Prescriptions Ledger

Scope and Contents:
This collection consists of one oversize ledger including prescriptions by various local doctors and pharmacists, largely from West Somerville but also including Cambridge. They are glued into the oversize ledger. It is currently unknown why a central ledger was kept that tracked prescriptions by various doctors and pharmacies by consecutive numbers.

The collection is made up of theses written by undergraduate students from various departments as part of the requirements for honors in their department. All students are asked to deposit copies of their theses in the archives, but not all do so, therefore the collection is incomplete. The earliest thesis dates from 1929, but most date from the 1960s onward.
