Scope and Contents: This collection contains reports, correspondence, news clippings, photographs and other papers from American foreign service officer John Leland Hedges. Hedges spent nearly 40 years as a public diplomat, serving in places such as France, Congo (Brazzaville), Morocco, Lebanon, Thailand, Nigeria, and the Cameroon. He received the Edward R. Murrow Award at the Fletcher School in 1980.
