This collection contains final papers and presentations of students enrolled in HIS193: Tufts in American History. Students in the course used the Digital Collections and Archives as a laboratory for researching and writing on topics related to campus life at Tufts from the 19th to 21st centuries century.

Biographical / Historical

This course uses the Digital Collections and Archives as a laboratory for researching and writing on topics related to campus life at Tufts from the 19th to 21st century, including dating, sororities and fraternities, the student movement in the 1960s, the women’s movements, student publications, and sports and Title IX. In this course, students complete individual research projects based on primary sources available in the archives. As of 2021, this course is taught by Virginia Drachman.

Processing Information

Processing of Fall 2017 material was completed by Leah Edelman in 2018. Materials were converted to PDF where necessary, bagged using Bagger, and ingested to the Digital Library. An item-level inventory, series-level description, and finding aid were created at the time of processing. Fall 2018, Spring 2020, and Spring 2021 material was processed by Records and Accessioning Archivist Jane Kelly in 2020; and Spring 2022 material by Digital Archivist Sally Benny in 2022. Materials were bagged using Bagger and ingested into the Digital Library. The finding aid was updated in June 2020 and December 2022.
