Biographical / Historical

In 1951 a Naval research project was assigned to Tufts on systems coordination (systems analysis) consisting of studies of basic military communications, with a budget in excess of $500,000. During the brief period it was located on the Medford campus this research project was housed in a concrete-block building erected for the purpose near the Cousens Gymnasium. A Department of Systems Analysis was created in the graduate school and was authorized to award the Doctor of Science degree.
