Biographical / Historical

The Office of the Vice Provost was formerly known as the Office of the Associate Provost for Research. Between November 1984 and July 1986 the positions of Director of Government Resources, Health Sciences, and the Director of Government Resources, Arts and Sciences, were moved from the University Development office to the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost with the creation of the positions of Associate Provost for Research, Boston Campus and the Associate Provost for Research, Medford Campus. The two positions were combined during the 1993-1994 academic year, and the position was also expanded to include the Grafton campus. In 2004, the Associate Provost for Research became the Vice Provost.

Language of Materials

This collection is organized into three series: Funded grants, Boston Campus; Funded grants, Medford Campus; and 2017 accessions.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Transferred by the Office of the Vice Provost, 2005-2017.

Processing Information

Dates at the item level are approximate. When materials were accessioned, they were separated into separate collections for the Medford and Boston campuses. DCA staff, including the Records Archivist, Records Manager and Director, determined that these were the same functional office with two sites, rather than two separate offices and the collections were merged on 2008-02-19. Boxes from Boston Campus are designated as such in the notes field; all other boxes are from the Medford office. Processing of the 2017 accessions was completed by Leah Edelman in 2017 and 2018. Materials were placed in archival boxes if the original housing was damaged, and loose materials were placed in folders where needed. Received order was maintained. A box-level inventory and series-level description were created and the finding aid was updated at the time of processing.
