Biographical / Historical
The Student Council meetings are first reported on in the school papers in 1909. The organized in 1916 and ratified the first constitution of the Tufts student body in 1924. The constitution establishing a governing body called the Student Council of Tufts College. Formed to support the unification of the various lines of extracurricular life at Tufts College, and the placing of some authority in the hands of a representative body of Tufts undergraduates. The original structure included ten representatives from student organizations and one faculty member. The Student Council of Tufts College became the Tufts Community Union in 1968.
