Biographical / Historical

The Office of Special Events is a unit of the Tufts University Advancement Division. It works with the Communications Office and Donor Relations Office to engage Tufts alumni through special events and build on philanthropic support for the University. The Office of Special Events combined the event planning functions of the University Advancement Division (then University Development), the Office of the President, and the Board of Trustees; its creation coincided with the restructuring of the University Development Division in the early 2000s. Director Celeste Mahoney was appointed in 2005. The Office of Special Events coordinates a number of annual events, including Parents and Families Weekend, Tufts Night at the Pops, Alumni Weekend, Young Alumni Weekend, and the Edward Murrow Forum. It also hosts various celebrations on campus and fundraising receptions throughout the country and world.
