Abstract:

Norman S. Stearns (1923-2010) was the Director of Clinical Affairs for Tufts University School of Medicine and led the process of obtaining University trustee approval for new degree programs at Tufts University School of Medicine and then implemented them.

Norman S. Stearns (October 17, 1923-September 30, 2010) was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended Harvard College, graduating in 1943 with a B.A. in Biology and received his M.D. from the Boston University School of Medicine in 1947.

Stearns was the Director of Clinical Affairs for Tufts University School of Medicine and led the process of obtaining University trustee approval for new degree programs at Tufts University School of Medicine and then implemented them. He implemented the following programs: a Master of Science in Health Communication Program with Emerson College; the MD/MBA in Health Management Program, which is a joint program of Tufts University School of Medicine, Northeastern University School of Business Administration, and the Heller School at Brandeis University; the 8-year BS in Engineering, MS in Engineering, and a MD Combined Program for Producing Expert Physicians in Biomedical Engineering; and the MD/MA Combined Program with TUSM and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
