Abstract:

Sumner Ware Shepard (1898-1966) graduated from Tufts College with a Bachelor of Arts in 1921. During his time at Tufts, he was manager of the basketball team and assistant manager of the baseball team, as well as a member of Delta Tau Delta. He married Edna G. Leving and they had two daughters. Mr. Shepard was an Army veteran of World War I. He worked for 35 years at the W.T. Grant Co., retired in 1958, and died in 1966.

Sumner Ware Shepard (January 17, 1898-December 18, 1966) was born in Everett, Massachusetts where he attended Lincoln High School. He graduated from Tufts College with a Bachelor of Arts in 1921. During his time at Tufts, he was manager of the basketball team and assistant manager of the baseball team, as well as a member of Delta Tau Delta. He married Edna G. Leving and they had two daughters. Mr. Shepard was an Army veteran of World War I. He worked for 35 years at the W.T. Grant Co., retired as chain store manager in 1958, and died in 1966.

Scope and Contents

This collection includes class material, student records, memorabilia and student life records from 1916-1921. Included are: a Tufts War Service Bond made out to Mr. Shepard, entrance and class exams, paperwork and memorabilia related to Delta Tau Delta, newspaper clippings of sports scores, and material about University wide activities such as Class Day and dances.
